Short version: the app collects nothing, sends nothing, and tracks nothing. MIDI and audio file access are scoped to devices and files you select. Everything happens locally on your Mac.
1. Information we collect
None. SP-1200 Sample Dump does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personally identifiable information. The app does not contain analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, crash-reporting services, or any other third-party data-collection components.
2. MIDI device access
The app uses macOS's CoreMIDI framework to enumerate and connect to MIDI devices that are already attached to your Mac. The device list shown in the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT dropdowns is built directly from the system's MIDI service — the app does not scan, identify, transmit, or persist any information about your MIDI hardware off-device.
- The app sends and receives MIDI System Exclusive (SysEx) messages only with the user-selected device.
- The last-used MIDI device names are remembered between launches as a local preference (in your user defaults) so the dropdowns can restore your previous selection.
- Nothing about your MIDI setup is uploaded, transmitted off-device, or shared with the developer or any third party.
3. Audio file access
When you click SEND or save a received sample, macOS shows the standard system file picker (NSOpenPanel / NSSavePanel). Files are read or written only at the path you explicitly choose in that picker.
- The app runs in Apple's App Sandbox. It has no access to files you have not explicitly selected.
- Audio decoding uses Apple's native AVFoundation and AudioToolbox frameworks. Audio data never leaves your Mac.
- No file metadata is collected, indexed, or transmitted.
4. Network use
SP-1200 Sample Dump makes no network connections during normal use. The app contains no in-app purchases, no advertising, no telemetry, no remote configuration, and no server communication of any kind. The app's com.apple.security.network.client entitlement is not granted in the sandbox profile.
5. Children's privacy
Because the app collects no information of any kind, it does not knowingly collect information from children, and it complies with applicable children's privacy laws (including COPPA and the GDPR-K provisions of the EU GDPR).
6. Data retention and deletion
Because no personal data is collected, there is nothing to retain or delete on the developer's side. All in-app state — preferences, last-used MIDI devices, last-saved file path — lives entirely on your Mac and is removed if you uninstall the app.
7. Third-party services
SP-1200 Sample Dump does not embed any third-party SDKs or services. The app links only against Apple's built-in macOS frameworks (Cocoa, Metal, MetalKit, CoreMIDI, CoreAudio, AudioUnit, AVFoundation, AudioToolbox, QuartzCore, SceneKit, UniformTypeIdentifiers).
8. Hardware interaction
The app communicates with the E-mu SP-1200 hardware sampler through standard MIDI SysEx messages, following the byte-and-timing specification published by E-mu Systems in the SP-1200 owner's manual (1987). The app does not modify, reflash, or alter any aspect of the SP-1200's firmware or behavior — it only sends and receives sample data using the manufacturer's documented protocol.
9. Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and the "Last updated" date below will change. Because the app collects no data, material changes are not anticipated.
